The End of an Era

This week has seen a couple of lasts for me. I have conducted and played in my last ever Liverpool University Music Society (LUMS) concert, handed over my role as social secretary and attended my last music department ball.

It's weird because in the past these concerts and events have marked the end of the term and the end of a year at university but this year I am still going to be a student until September when I had in my dissertation.

I am so proud to have conducted the Music Society Concert Band this year. Everyone has worked so hard to make my pieces sound the way I wanted to and it was kind of fitting to conduct the last piece of my last ever LUMS concert. This semester I picked a piece called Eighties Flashback purely for the reason that it was fun and had so many absolute bangers in it that I couldn't not do it. I think that it went down well with everyone in concert band too and I have to say it sounded AMAZING at the concert so thankyou to every single member of Concert band you've really helped me to bring to life some cool and fun pieces over the years, From Jesus Christ Superstar, to Catch Me If You Can to the Eighties Flashback, it has been a pleasure and as we pass the baton on to the next leader I know that Concert Band will always sound as ace as you have this year.

We have also had the votes for the new committee member for LUMS and so there is not one but two social secretaries for the next year. Twice the fun right! It's kind of sad to pass that one over as there are so many socials that I didn't get chance to do but I will pass on all my ides in case they need a couple to get them started. So that's me over and out from the LUMS committee!

Finally over the weekend we had the Music Ball. My last one. It was great to get dressed up and actually go out for once because, I don't know if you've guessed or not but I don't get out much. I'm kind of an old lady in that respect. I do love a good night in, in front of the telly, doing a bit of crocheting, chatting with my housemates. But I did enjoy going out for once. It also gave me the chance to socialise a bit more with people I don't see very often and it was great. It also saw my first trip into gaytown in Liverpool which was great, The music was amaze, the company was amaze and I got to see some drag queens. After watching Ru Paul's drag race I am fascinated by Drag Queens and what they do to make themselves look so amazing in fabulous outfits.

Anyway, as I said this week has been a week of lasts but hopefully there will be a lot of firsts in the future especially in the near future but I look forward to what life throws at me.
