London Trip: The Last Day

Here we are on the final day of our trip, which also felt like the longest and most tiring but hey, we did lots of things!

It all started with leaving our hotel room, which is easier said than done with me checking all the cupboards, (even the ones we didn't even use?!) under the bed, in the shower and under the bed sheets (you never know there might have been a rogue sock in there!!) to make sure we had everything before we left. This also means that we have to carry all of our stuff with us all day from the moment we left the hotel at 10:30 am until we get the train at 9:30 pm which did panic me a little but spoiler alert... nothing happened and we were fine.

First stop that day was my mother-ship, the Theatre Cafe and as you can see I was well pleased to be there after obsessively watching their social media and seeing all the musical theatre goodies they have in there.

We thought we might be able to get some breakfast in there, however, it was rather busy and they don't really do breakfast items so we went in search of food somewhere else and decided to come back later. After our quick food pit stop we went to our first sightseeing location of the day, Tower bridge. This was one of our favourite parts of our trip. The views were amazing and I managed to pluck up the courage to walk along the glass floor!! I won't lie, for someone who's not a fan of heights it was kind of terrifying but I did sort of get used to it after a while but I'm not sure I'll be doing it gain in a hurry.

One of the best things about Tower Bridge was managing to get 2 for 1 on our admission with our train tickets. We wouldn't have known this if it wasn't for our very knowledgeable housemate so I thought I would let you guys know too. All you have to do is go to this website and select the attractions you want to go to and they will email you a voucher for you to print off. You then take this voucher alongside your train tickets to admissions and you're in. It's a great way to promote tourism through environmentally friendly ways, instead of everyone driving in to an already extremely busy city.

Our next stop was The Monument. Another thing we only knew about because our amazing housemate told us about it. The Monument was erected to commemorate the Great Fire of London which happened in 1666. The Monument stands just outside of Monument tube station just off Fish Street Hill only 202 feet away from where the fire started on Pudding Lane. The monument takes the form of a Doric column containing a spiral staircase of

311 steps. At the top of the steps is a viewing platform with AMAZING views of London, I'd possibly say even better views than Tower Bridge! As I said earlier I am not a fan of heights and this one really tested me. I cannot deny the beauty of the views but I was massively put off due to the wind. If we had gone up the Monument on a still day I would have been fine but the wind made me feel like I was going to be blown away any second and took my breath away on a couple of occasions. But for just £2.50 each with our 2 for 1 voucher it was a great experience, especially as there is only one set of stairs which means as you are going up the stairs there's very likely going to be someone coming down and vice versa so there's a lot of stepping in to allow people to pass by you.

We then made a quick stop at the Tate, but we didn't get to see a lot as it was nearly closing time. I have to say though, this building is immense. There are so many rooms and pieces of art you don't know where to start. I'm glad that this building has had a second life and sees so many people everyday because it really is impressive.

Our final tourist top for the day was Trafalgar Square, another breathtaking monument. It was proper bustling with people that day. People from all over the world posing with the lions and sitting on the steps to the column. It really is a beehive of tourism and rightly so.

After a quick pit stop at the Theatre Cafe for a warming Hot Chocolate (by this point it had started to absolutely tip it down with rain again so a warm drink was very much needed) it was time for tea. They say stick to what you know so off we went back to Frankie and Benny's for some lovely grub before making our way to Euston station and back to Liverpool on the train slightly disappointed that we had to go home.

It was an amazing weekend packed full of activities and walking. By the time we got off the train and got back to the house we had done just over 75,000 steps over the whole weekend and every single one was worth it. I acquired some more badges for my collection, took LOADS of fab photos (and a

couple that were not so fab), made some fabulous memories and most of all realised that my lovely boyfriend does listen to me sometimes and knows what I would love for my birthday.

I hope you've enjoyed this little London diary. It's been great to write it all down so I can never forget our adventures. I wonder what my next blog post will be?...
