An evening with a Talented Musician: Newton Faulkner

On Tuesday the 12th of March I stood in the Jacaranda Phase One in Liverpool transfixed by the music of Newton Faulkner. His guitar skills are absolutely phenomenal not to mention the fact that he also had a bass drum pedal and fish slap pedal to think about as well. I don't know how he did it.

I came across Newton last year when my boyfriend played me one of his songs called 'Fingertips' after being recommended it by a friend and I have to say that friend was totally right. This song is just so beautiful, the falsetto is so perfect and has such feeling. After that day we added his album to a chill playlist and never looked back.

I have been to a few gigs in my lifetime but this one was the most intimate. He made everyone in the room feel like they mattered to him, that they were important. He chatted us and made the room laugh on many occasion, but my favourite part was the audience participation. He split us up into three groups and layered us on top of each other, it was great, I loved it.

When we got to the gig we got a CD as part of our ticket and after the gig we all got to have a chat to him while he signed them. I wish more artists would do this as it gives the fans a chance to get to know the artist more. Newton gave everyone there that night the chance to ask him a question while he was signing without rushing anyone, even if it was just something as simple as how are you? Giving out the CD is also a great way to get his music heard and shared out. I know I'm going to be recommending him to a lot of people now I've had the chance to see him live and chat to him.

I love Newton's voice and some of his guitar melodies are just hypnotizing. I would highly recommend you go listen to him because I can almost guarantee you won't regret it.
