The Next Chapter

So, after months of not knowing what it is I'm actually going to be doing with my life for the next year, I can now confirm I'm going to be studying a Masters at the University of Liverpool. Trust me, I'm surprised too.

From the very second I started my undergraduate degree at the University I always said that I wouldn't be staying on after my degree. But as always, things change, people change.

I think part of the reasoning for me not wanting to do a masters originally was because I didn't think any of the courses would be for me, or tailored to what would help me get my dream job or explore the kinds of areas I am most interested in. But I was wrong. A research masters allows you to do exactly that.

So can you guess what I'll be researching?... Yep that's right, musical theatre! Well, to be exact, I will be undertaking an investigation into the musical director’s role within Musical Theatre, in both professional and amateur contexts. Meaning I can find out everything there is to know about my dream job and give me some insights on how exactly I can get there.

It's going to be a jam packed year for me. As social secretary for the University of Liverpool Music society (or lums as it's more commonly known) I will be organising and hosting socials all year round. I will also be continuing my musical director post for an upcoming Liverpool University Student Theatre Production (or Lust as we like to call it) which I will tell you about in a blog post all of it's own later on. I also need to find a job of some kind as, just like most students, I need the income to supplement my living costs.

It's gonna be busy but hopefully mega fun!

So, this is the next chapter in my life. I think I'll call it 'The Masterful year'. Let's see what it brings...
